PHILIPPINES, Tuesday, 16 May 2023 - KDB DARUTTAQWA and KDB AFIAT of the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) has successfully participated in the 2nd ASEAN Multilateral Naval Exercise 2023 (AMNEX 2/2023) and the ASEAN Fleet Review (AFR) held in conjunction with the 17th ASEAN Navy Chiefs' Meeting hosted by the Philippine Navy which was held at Subic Bay, Philippines from the 11th to 16th May 2023.
AMNEX 2/2023 began with the conduct of the ASEAN Fleet Review (AFR) on 11th May 2023 and was followed by the harbor phase on 12th May 2023. The Harbour phase consisted mainly of the Opening Ceremony, Cultural Night, several sporting events, as well as coordination meetings between participating ships for the exercise.
The sea-phase was executed in vicinity of Subic Bay from 13th to 14th May 2023 involving multiple ASEAN naval ships namely; KDB DARUTTAQWA and KDB AFIAT from the RBN, BRP ANTONIO LUNA and BRP ANDRES BONIFACIO from the Philippine Navy, RSS SUPREME from the Republic of Singapore Navy, KRI I GUSTI NGURAH RAI from the Indonesian Navy, KD LEKIU from the Royal Malaysian Navy, HTMS PATTANI from the Royal Thai Navy and VPNS TRAN HUNG DAO from the Viet Nam People's Navy.
With the aim to further strengthen the existing relations between navies of the ASEAN countries, all participating nations have contributed in the successful conduct of AMNEX 2/2023. Thus, enhancing the degree of cooperation and interoperability between ASEAN Navies. RBN's participation in AMNEX 2/2023 highlights its continued commitment to regional security and stability, as well as its readiness to work with other navies in the region towards achieving common goals.
